Plainedge High School hosted a fashion show Thursday that gave students who don't normally have a chance to shine their turn in the spotlight.
The Best Buddies Club is part of an international organization that pairs students up with children who have intellectual disabilities. They hold events all year long, including their second annual fashion show.
Organizers say it's an environment that allows everyone to flourish and have a change in perspective.
"A lot of the time I'm super hard on myself. Then I see my buddy, Jack, and he always has a smile on his face," says 17-year-old Nikolas Rodriguez. "He gives me a couple high-fives, and it just turns my whole day around."
Students and their buddies also performed songs during the event.
All of the proceeds will benefit the Best Buddies Club at the school and a scholarship fund for graduating seniors.
