The Diocese of Rockville Centre says Father Charles Omotu was removed from his duties Wednesday after allegations of inappropriate behavior.

The diocese says the behavior was "unrelated to endangering any minor."

It says the matter was reported to law enforcement, and says the ongoing investigation has found no evidence of any potential criminal conduct on the part of Father Omotu.

Father Omotu was the associate pastor at St. Barnabas the Apostle parish in Bellmore.

It was not immediately clear what the inappropriate behavior consisted of.
