A seal was spotted lounging on the beach Sunday by Brighton 15th Street.

The Department of Environmental Conservation confirms they've received a few calls about the gray seal pup adding these pups, just a couple of months old, are often found alone, resting and trying to figure out life on their own.

The DEC says seals can rest for hours in the same spot, as long as they're healthy and showing no signs of injury. Officials are monitoring the situation.

Here are some helpful tips if you spot a seal on the beach: Stay 150 feet away to avoid disturbing the animal and report sick/injured seals by calling NY Stranding hotline at 631-369-9829.
