Drivers are on edge in the Bayville area after attempted attacks on multiple cars.

One woman says it was a really scary moment for her. Just before 8 p.m. Monday night, she was driving down Bayville Avenue when a black Mercedes passed her and stopped in front of her car.

She says another white car blocked her in from behind. A passenger in the backseat of the Mercedes got out and ran toward her vehicle, slamming his fist into the side of her vehicle as she sped around them to get away.

The victim said she drove directly to a fire station when the Mercedes started following her. She’s filed a police report.

Another video circulating social media shows the same thing happening to another driver. This time the suspects grabbed baseball bats and ran at the victim’s car.

People who live in the area say they’re concerned.

“I was shocked. I grew up in Bayville and in 60 years I’ve never ever heard of anything remotely as violent and scary as that,” said Scott Follett, of Bayville. “I don’t know what I would have done, but I might have used my vehicle as self defense. So those kids are lucky that they didn’t get hurt.”

“if somebody’s approaching me in the attempt to harm me, then I’m going to react the same way….” Said Philip Briguglio, of Bayville. “I mean, what else can you do if you’re going to approach me in that manner?”

News 12 showed the video to police who say they are looking into it.

The mayor of Bayville said he has no comment because it’s an active investigation.

Neighbors say they’re paying extra attention on the roads.

“In the back of my mind I’m a little apprehensive,” said Briguglio

“I’m definitely going to be cautious,” said Jennifer Riccardo, of Bayville.
