A Bay Shore man has been sentenced to 23 years in jail for sexually abusing his 8-year-old daughter.

The Suffolk DA says the 33-year-old man sexually abused the child for about a year when she was visiting him every other weekend.

Prosecutors say the man threatened to beat his daughter if she told anyone.

The girl told her mother when she noticed her child becoming anxious about visiting her father.
