A 30-year-old Bay Shore man pleaded not guilty Wednesday at his arraignment on a charge of murder alleging he shot 26-year-old Alexander P. Incorvia to death behind a shuttered Kmart store in Middle Island, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
Michael K. Dirkenschneider, of 8 Diamond St., is charged with murder in the first degree, murder in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
Suffolk County police recovered a .45 caliber handgun, believed to be the murder weapon, from Dirkschneider's dresser on April 2 and arrested him on a weapons charge.
A grand jury indicted Dirkschneider for the homicide last Friday, Spota said.
Incorvia's body was found by a woman walking her dog in the wooded area behind the vacant store.
