Bay Shore donation drive seeks essential items for victims of Bronx fire

The nonprofit organization Jibaritos with Troops responds to humanitarian relief efforts and helped set up donations for victims of the Bronx fire.

Long Islanders are stepping up with a donation drive in Bay Shore to help the victims of fatal fire in the Bronx.
The nonprofit organization Jibaritos with Troops responds to humanitarian relief efforts.
"A lot of people from the community reached out to us and stopped by last night and today," says Jose Gonzalez who works with the nonprofit. "We plan to go Thursday night to assist the families."
They are asking for personal hygiene items and essential items such as socks, cold weather gear, children's clothing, toothpaste and more.
Suffolk police were among those who stopped and donated their costs.

The collection drive is happening at 11 Madison Ave.
The donation is going on until 11 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
