Parents of students at Bay Shore Christian School are scrambling to find new schools for their children after receiving a letter telling them that the school was closing.
The letter said, “...despite our best efforts, we can see that the path ahead is not sustainable and that painful decisions must be made.”
The letter added that, "Regrettably, the conclusion of the Summer Program, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, will signal the end of services provided by BSCS. All programs will cease to offer services. This includes all pre-school programs, school-age programs, before-school care and after-school care services. To support families and staff, we will offer group information sessions to answer questions, assist in providing next steps and enable enrollment into area district schools, private schools or home-school groups.”
Michelle LeClerc’s daughter attends the school.
LeClerc said she’s “extremely disappointed,” and wishes they’d been notified earlier, giving the parents time to research other schools.
Carmen Chambers has grandchildren in the school.
They’re the second generation of the family to attend the school.
Chambers said she’s “absolutely devastated” that the school is closing its doors. She described it as “a wonderful school."
A man who identified himself as the pastor to News 12 said that they're not ready to do any interviews or answer any questions.
