The two barges that washed ashore earlier this week in Milford and drifted to West Haven were successfully towed away Sunday, the U.S. Coast Guard says.

Two attempts to remove the barges on Saturday were unsuccessful.
The barges initially washed ashore Thursday on Woodmont Beach in Milford and drifted over to West Haven Friday morning.
