Long Island native Chris Weidman is headed back to the octagon.
Weidman, a Baldwin resident and Hofstra University graduate, announced on his Instagram account that he will fight Jack Hermansson as the headline bout for UFC Fight Night on May 2.
"Let's do this!" Weidman wrote.
The Fight Night event will take place at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
A former middle weight champion, Weidman is 1-5 in his last six fights. He most recently lost a bout at 205 pounds to Stony Brook University alumnus Dominick Reyes. Weidman has a 14-5 career record.
The fight against Hermansson solidifies his move down to 185 pounds.
