News 12 has learned personal items seized by law enforcement are being returned to the family of Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heuermann.

The attorney for Heuermann’s wife, Asa Ellerup, says the items were taken when investigators spent nearly two weeks looking for evidence in their Massapequa Park home after his arrest last year.

The items being returned are ones that prosecutors say don’t provide value to their investigation.

Heuermann is charged with murdering six women and is a suspect in a seventh murder.

Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
