Jennifer Nelson, 36, was convicted on a lesser charge of leaving the scene of an accident with serious injuries.

Prosecutors say Nelson confronted a group of teens near William Floyd High School with a knife and a bat in October 2022, thinking they had robbed her son.

She then allegedly ran over one of them twice, breaking several of his bones and puncturing one of his lungs.

Nelson was also acquitted of assault, but faces up to four years in prison when she is sentenced on Dec. 4.
