UPDATE: The boil water advisory has been lifted as of Sunday afternoon.

Atlantic City is under a boil water advisory Sunday due to high turbidity levels, according to city officials.

The city says high levels affect disinfection which can lead to bacterial growth.

Officials say the advisory is for water consumption only. They say it's acceptable for residents to bathe, wash clothes and do dishes with the water in their homes. Water that is being consumed or used for cooking should be brought to a boil for one minute, then let it cool.

The boil water advisory is only in effect for Atlantic City only. Neighboring towns are not impacted.
