Thousands of Long Islanders flocked to Jones Beach to walk for women’s and children’s health.

The annual 5K aims to benefit the Katz Institute for Women's Health and Cohen Children's Medical Center.

"The money that we raise goes whether it's for Katz or the Children's Hospital goes right into care for the community so I think it's really important that people understand what we're doing," said Brian Lally, of Northwell Health.

Part of the proceeds will go to building operating rooms for children and new radiology suites to provide mammograms for women.
