Andrew’s Top Gun 5K Run raises drunk driving awareness and money for scholarships

Last year, the Andrew McMorris Foundation handed out more than $30,000 in scholarship money.

Hundreds of runners pounded the pavement during Andrew's Top Gun Run in Calverton.

This is the fourth annual year of the 5K race in honor of Andrew McMorris of Wading River. McMorris was killed by a drunk driver in September 2018 while hiking with his Boy Scout troop in Manorville. He was 12 years old.

"We're raising money for scholarships and we're raising awareness for drunk and impaired driving,” said John McMorris – Andrew’s father. “We hope that today's event lets many people feel that they can come together for a good common cause.”
