An Amityville man has been arrested for the possession and sale of narcotics, according to police.
According to police, an investigation into two fatal overdoses and one non-fatal overdose of three Nassau County residents lead to the identification of the suspect.
The suspect has been identified as Donnell Lewis, 39. Lewis was located on Emerald Lane North and placed under arrest without incident.
Lewis has been charged with nine counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and nine counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance.
He is not currently facing charges in connection to any of the overdoses.
Police say Lewis was previously arrested in Suffolk County and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and was released without bail in November 2021.
The 39-year-old was released with an ankle monitor because none of the drug charges he faces are bail qualifying in the state of New York.
Teri Kroll, who lost her son to an overdose from drugs provided by a doctor, says anyone providing lethal narcotics needs to be held accountable for deaths caused by their sale.
"What's stopping him from still dealing drugs?" Kroll asked. "It's dangerous. Why would we let someone like that walk the street? What does an ankle bracelet do? Nothing. He can still deal drugs from his living room."
Lewis is due back on court on April 27.
