Weather center right now with Rich Hoffman on what's to come this morning, it is cold outside. A quick little shot of our bitter blast coming in in and out very quickly. The air temperature is not the problem, Jen. It's the gusty wind that's out there, which is making it feel so much colder around Long Island with good news, clear skies and dry weather to start today. Some clouds are coming in for our afternoon hour. So going throughout our day. Well, we are tracking the cold weather conditions today and tomorrow yesterday, we had highs 50 to 55 with a clear sky. This morning, temperatures are much colder 28 degrees right now in Riverhead, 32 Smithtown, 34 in Bay Shore, 33 right now from Glen Cove to Hempstead. 34 degrees right now. Over towards Valley Stream, winds have been gusting 20 to 30 MPH. That's what makes it feel so much colder. You can see the fields, light temperatures right now at 21 in 23 right now, Smithtown 24 Huntington 24 right now in Hempstead. Dress in layers, grab the scarf, the hat and the gloves if you got to wait at the train platform for a while, the kids at the bus stop. And also, are you working outside for today? Construction workers, landscapers, utility crews. It's gonna be cold with that gusty wind. That's the problem. Air temperatures for this time of year overall. Yes, they're cold. But with that wind west northwest, near 20 MPH, it's gonna feel like the twenties all day long. Now, between one and 4 p.m. there will be a slight chance of a few flurries or a quick snow shower around Long Island Port Jeff temperature around noon time at 39 degrees. It's cold right through this evening. A couple of snow showers to the north. We'll watch those for our afternoon with that threat of a snow shower high. Stay upper thirties. It will be cold. Wind chills in the twenties all day long and then right through tomorrow morning wind chills. Now in the teens, colder weather before we see a warm up towards the weekend with some wet weather. Temperatures say thirties to around 40 but the wind around 30 MPH making it feel so much colder. You can see the temperatures tonight in the twenties cold conditions and here's our little bit of a warm up 49 on Thursday. Rain coming in as we head towards Friday dry Saturday, some showers Sunday.

American Airpower Museum pay tribute to veterans

Well, on this veterans day, Long Islanders are coming together to pay tribute to those who defended our country. The American Air Power Museum is paying special honors tonight directly to our vets from the sky. News's Nicolette Sleman walks us through the meaning behind the ceremony. The two tribute flights are a special way to say, thank you, recognize and celebrate Long Island veterans. Very proud to be a part of this and you can feel the energy enthusiasm. Two Korean war veterans, three Vietnam war veterans and five World War I I veterans, two of them, 102 years old, all honored Saturday afternoon by getting a chance to fly above Long Island representing each service branch. I'm here to do what I can for the veterans that didn't come home. The veterans and two high school students boarded a World War I I paratrooper plane famous for its D day landings, educate America's and Long Island's youth about the cost of freedom and the price that we have paid as veterans and service members really special to be able to show them our appreciation for their service flying over pine Lawn National Military Cemetery in a tribute flight for those who didn't make it home. But there is such a deep feeling for those buddies. It's a privilege to work with and to honor our veterans. And I wish that more people would support us and share those same sentiments.
