An alleged Glen Cove drug dealer was arraigned Tuesday in connection with the fatal fentanyl overdose of a 27-year-old man.
Authorities say Eveen Cullum sold heroin laced with fentanyl to an overdose victim who lived on Fairmont Place in Glen Cove.
Cullum pleaded not guilty to charges of distribution of fentanyl and attempted distribution of fentanyl. However, federal court documents say he admitted to selling the man the drugs he later overdosed on.
According to the criminal complaint, authorities were able to connect Cullum to the case because of a text message they found on the phone of the man who died. In it, authorities say, he ordered heroin from Cullum.
Authorities say that same night, they set up a sting operation using the 27-year-old's phone to contact Cullum. They say they texted him asking Cullum to deliver more drugs to the parking lot of a nearby pizzeria. When he showed up a few hours later, he was taken into custody.
Cullum has several previous arrests on drug possession charges. He is being held without bail.
