Police have made an arrest in connection to a brazen car theft caught on camera at a gas station in Newburgh.

News 12 first reported the incident last week after obtaining exclusive surveillance video of the incident.

City of Newburgh police say the thief, 42-year-old Frank Torres, of Walden, stole the idling car at Valero on Broadway in the early morning hours of June 19.

Authorities say Torres crashed the stolen vehicle into several parked cars and a police cruiser while they tried to stop him and then ran off on foot.

The victim sent News 12 pictures of his damaged car.

Torres was caught and is facing multiple charges, including grand larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance and assault.
