Police say a woman has been arrested for DWI after she drove her vehicle into oncoming traffic in Commack.
Police responded to a 911 report of a Ford Expedition being driven eastbound in the westbound lanes of Jericho Turnpike at 12:50 a.m.
An officer in a marked police car located the Ford and drove up behind it with lights and siren activated, but the driver did not stop the vehicle.
The officer then passed the Ford and positioned his vehicle in front of it. The officer gradually slowed down his vehicle until it came to a stop with the Ford stopping behind it. The officer observed that the driver of the Ford, Susan Charan, was intoxicated.
Charan, 51, Hicksville, was charged with DWI. She was also issued multiple summonses for traffic violations. The Ford was impounded.
