Southold police tell News 12 they responded to a home after getting calls from a concerned father that his son was going to take his own life.

The incident happened on Ruch Lane Tuesday night.

Officers were able to save the man. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Meanwhile, a helicopter was nearby ready to rush the victim to the hospital if needed.

That’s when the helicopter spotted a boat capsized that sent three people into the water about 200 yards offshore at Town Beach.

The helicopter was able to drop an inflatable tube and save all three people.

The people were checked out by Southold rescue and released.
