Police: Pedestrian struck, critically injured by hit-and-run driver in Hempstead

According to detectives, a Hispanic male, who is yet to be identified, was crossing South Franklin Street on foot, when he was struck by a dark colored SUV around 10:32 p.m.

Police are searching for the driver who struck and critically injured a pedestrian in Hempstead on Wednesday night.
According to detectives, a Hispanic male, who is yet to be identified, was crossing  South Franklin Street on foot, when he was struck by a dark colored SUV around 10:32 p.m.
The SUV was traveling southbound on South Franklin Street at Peninsula Boulevard, and was being operated by an unknown individual that left the scene.
The pedestrian sustained multiple injuries and was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
