Police say a woman was fatally struck in Roslyn Heights on Tuesday night.

According to detectives, the 56-year-old pedestrian was walking in the roadway on Roslyn Road at I.U. Willets when she was struck by a 2018 Jeep Cherokee that was being driven by a 30-year-old male. 

The male operator remained on scene and awaited police arrival. 

As a result of the collision, the female pedestrian suffered multiple trauma injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
