A major milestone has been reached in an effort to get everyone vaccinated against COVID-19. Gov. Kathy Hochul says 80% of 12-17 year olds have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
The announcement comes as two new pop-up sites on Long Island are available to get children vaccinated open today.
The vaccines will be administered at the Cutchogue Fire Department and the East Brentwood Fire Department.
In Nassau County, a vax mobile will be parked outside of the Freeport Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Children can get the vaccine and booster shots. Appointments and walk-ups are available.
Long Island’s positivity rate is down 6.68%. It was over 9% last week.
