Sentencing has been delayed in the case of a man convicted in connection to the stabbing death of an Arlington High School student.
Nestor Ortiz-Ocampo, previously charged with fatally stabbing 16-year-old Quraan Smith, an Arlington High School student, was expected in Dutchess County Court today.
Although acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges, Ortiz-Ocampo was convicted of criminal possession of a weapon.
His attorneys argued self-defense during a melee following a football game in September 2021.
The conviction could lead to a maximum one-year jail sentence.
There was no reason given for the adjournment.
