With many people being impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, former Marine and certified trainer Paul Bamba has challenged himself to run for a cause. He has committed to running 72 miles in 72 hours through each of the five boroughs, with a goal of raising $72,000 for charity.
“Everybody should be doing something to give back and help out because it's not just affecting certain groups of people, it’s affecting everybody,” Bamba told News 12. “I don't have a bunch of money to donate myself, but I can run, and I know a lot of people.”
His journey began Friday night. He plans on running four miles every four hours. Bamba has already run in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Brooklyn, and will head to Queens and Staten Island on Sunday. He plans on finishing strong on Monday afternoon.
Bamba is urging anyone who wants to support his cause to donate at Trifecta Strong. So far, he has raised more than $3,000 for the Robin Hood Foundation.
