Police say a man has died after being hit by an SUV in New Hyde Park.

Police say the 71-year-old man was crossing Hillside Avenue, near Cellar Avenue, just before 6 p.m. Thursday. That is when he was hit by an SUV.

The man was taken to the hospital with severe injuries and pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and is not facing charges.
