A Manhasset doctor's life was saved as he tested a new machine for his patients.

Dr. James Naidich, an interventional radiologist at North Shore LIJ, has diagnosed patients with heart conditions for more than four decades. Recently, he noticed he was having heart palpitations.

Luckily, the hospital had purchased a 640-Slice CT Scanner. Dr. Stanley Katz suggested they take a look at Naidich's heart, and the scan revealed that three arteries in his heart were blocked.

Dr. Biana Trost says the new CT scan was beneficial because it pinpointed the exact area where the plaque buildup was.

Doctors performed a stent procedure on Naidich in April.

Doctors say 6,000 people have heart attacks nationwide each day.
