One third of our lives is spent at work.
So, why not give yourself an overall health boost by improving your workday wellness? Here are some tips:

1. Take stretch breaks

For those that spend most of their workdays in one position, know that this can often lead to pain in your neck or back, as well as a lack of good blood flow to your entire body. When you have the time throughout the day, try to move from your position. Stretch out your arms and legs and, if possible, take a short walk to stimulate blood flow. This can also give your body a nice boost of energy, which is helpful when you’re feeling especially tired or sluggish. Here are some stretches to try.

2. Disinfect your workspace

In the last year, we’ve all learned the importance of disinfecting, but this is a tip that can never be repeated enough! At your workspace, germs tend to stick around on the things you touch most - your keyboard, mouse, computer screen, phone, and more. Stop the spread of germs and help keep both you and your coworkers healthy by cleaning those surfaces. Here are some tips from the CDC.

3. Focus on your meals

Eating a quick lunch while you work can have negative effects on your body. Studies show that by focusing on your meals as you’re eating them, commonly referred to as mindful eating, you can experience better digestion, be less tempted to overeat, and enjoy a nice, relaxing meal break.

4. Exercise your eyes

Exercising or stretching your eyes is also important. This is especially true for those who spend the majority of their days staring at a computer, tablet, or phone screen. Try practicing the 20/20/20 rule - for every 20 minutes you spend staring at your screen, you should try to look at something 20 feet away from you for 20 seconds. Here are some more tips to help prevent eye strain.

5. Implement walking meetings

A walking meeting is simply that - a meeting that takes place during a walk instead of in an office, boardroom, or lunch room. Walking meetings give you the added benefit of fresh air. According to the Harvard Business Review, researchers found that walking meetings had a profound impact on workplace creativity.

6. Connect with your coworkers

Remember, workplace wellness is about more than your physical health. Adding in changes to your daily work routine that promote better mental health are of equal importance! One great way to do this is to make a concerted effort to stay connected with your coworkers. Here are eight tips for building strong work relationships.
