Malverne Mel

Malverne Mel will return to Crossroads Farm for the 28th year to give his prediction on an early spring. Visitors can come and enjoy the festivities, including the music of the Banjo Rascals, as Malverne Mayor Keith Corbett shares Mel's prediction.

Staten Island Chuck

Staten Island Zoo will once again reveal Staten Island Chuck's prediction in a livestream on the zoo's Facebook page. Chuck will make his prediction at 7:30 a.m. Staten Island Zoo Executive Director Ken Mitchell will announce Chuck’s prediction with special guests Council Member David Carr, Council Member Kamillah Hanks and Richmond County DA Mike McMahon. Zoo Board of Trustees President William Frew proudly shared that Chuck has "correctly guessed either an early spring or six weeks of winter the past 13 years."

Lady Edwina of Essex

Lady Edwina of Essex will make second prognostication for Essex County Turtle Back Zoo - visitors can find out her winter and football predictions. The zoo says visitors can then stop by the reptile house to learn more from its education team.

The Quogue Library will host its annual Groundhog Day celebration with STAR Foundation groundhog "Sam Champion." The event will feature guest speakers and activities from the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, hot chocolate and groundhog-themed treats and a showing of 1993 classic "Groundhog Day."

Parker Space, the owner of Space Farms, said they will be pulling Stonewall out again for his yearly Groundhog Day prediction at 7:30 a.m. Space Farms reopens for 2023 in April.

Sweetbriar Nature Center is hosting "Searching for Sweetbriar Sam - A Groundhog adventure." The event will include a craft and a scavenger hunt, plus find out what Niblet the groundhog is predicting.
