Six Long Island hospitals received high marks in a new safety report released by the national nonprofit Leapfrog Group.
The group evaluated hospitals on things like infections, medication, hand washing, maternity care and surgical safety.
The A-rated hospitals on Long Island included Syosset Hospital, Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead and Huntington Hospital.
