An apartment fire late Saturday night in East Meadow left six people hospitalized for smoke inhalation, according to authorities.

Officials say 75 firefighters were called to the building on Newbridge Road just after 11:30 p.m. The flames were controlled in 35 minutes.

The Red Cross is assisting residents who were displaced. However, the number of people was not immediately clear.

Officials say multiple apartments sustained significant damage in the fire.

The cause remains under investigation as of Monday morning.
