Four suspects are wanted in connection to a jewelry store burglary in Milford, police say.
Police are now searching for suspects who stole tens of thousands of dollars' worth of jewelry from Valentine's Diamonds and Jewelry on Monday.
In less than five minutes, the four suspects broke through a front window, smashed 10 display cases of jewelry, and ran with what they could carry.
As longtime business owner Mark Valentine works to clean up the mess, he says he's thankful since he knows personally how badly this could have ended.
"My father was murdered six months after we opened the store together," Valentine says.
Running a jewelry business is in his blood.
"As far as the jewelry missing, you really don't care, 'cause now 30 plus years later, I have a son, my son works in the business, he's the age I was when my father was murdered," Valentine says.
Valentine says he carries on the family tradition, always thinking about the safety of his family.
"As long as everyone is OK, then that's the important part, it's just jewelry. I wish it was just jewelry back then."
Officer Mike Devito, with the Milford Police Department, says they are looking for four suspects last seen in a dark-colored sedan.
"The dark sedan left the scene quickly. We think there was actually a fourth person that was a driver," Devito says.
Police are working with other jurisdictions to see if similar jewelry burglaries are related.
