Four people were trapped inside an elevator Saturday at the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, according to authorities.

Nesconset fire officials say they responded to the scene around 3:45 p.m.

They had to force the elevator open using a hydraulic tool similar to the jaws of life.

The rescue took around 15 to 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Authorities say one person was evaluated for a “possible medical issue” at the scene but refused further medical attention.

Mall officials say the elevator remains out of service.
