Police are asking for the public's help locating a man who they say raped and robbed a 24-year-old woman in the Mount Eden section of the Bronx.
The NYPD released a photo of the suspect on Thursday. He was identified as 24-year-old Ajene Nelson.
Detectives say Nelson allegedly attacked the woman near Jerome Avenue and Marcy Place around 1 a.m. on Sept. 29.
Nelson is also accused of snatching the victim's cellphone, which police say is valued at around $1,000.
"If things like that are happening and if he's going to start stealing also, that's a very important thing to be aware of," said Josue Roman, who lives in the area.
He's been arrested three times since 2022, which police said included charges of burglary, violating an order of protection, and robbery.
According to investigators, paramedics took the victim to Lincoln Hospital.
Police say she is expected to recover physically.
The NYPD urges anyone with information to call its Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
