A resident was injured when gunfire shattered a window at a Greene Homes apartment complex during one of two shots-fired incidents under investigation in Bridgeport.
Police say officers heard about 25 rounds of automatic gunfire just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Greene Homes community in the Hollow section of the city. Authorities say a resident was injured when bullets struck a window and flying glass shattered inside the apartment.
Police say ShotSpotter also detected the gunfire. Investigators say while one person was hurt by the shattered glass, no one was directly struck by gunfire.
"In addition to the officers hearing the gunfire, the shots were reported by ShotSpotter, and while one person was hurt by shattered glass, nobody was directly struck by gunfire," said Detective Jeff Holtz of the Bridgeport Police Department.
About 20 minutes later, officers responded to another shots-fired call on Main Street. Investigators say gunfire struck a fifth-floor window of a building.
No injuries were reported in the second incident.
Police have not said whether the shootings are connected. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Bridgeport Police tip line. The investigation remains ongoing.
