Domestic violence survivors in Rockland County will soon be able to get help paying for home safety improvements after county lawmakers unanimously approved a new assistance program.
The measure, introduced by Legislator Beth Davidson, will help survivors cover the cost of security upgrades such as new locks and security cameras.
County lawmakers voted unanimously to approve the program, which is aimed at improving safety for people seeking to rebuild their lives after domestic violence.
Rockland joins New York City and Westchester County in adopting similar initiatives that were launched following a murder-suicide in New Jersey.
