A Suffern woman was killed in a crash involving a garbage truck in Ramapo, according to police.

The Ramapo Police Department confirmed that a 38-year-old woman died in the crash on Route 202 Monday morning. She was the driver of the Nissan involved in the incident.

The crash happened before 11 a.m. Monday near the Wilder Road intersection in Wesley Hills. Route 202 is currently closed between Lime Kiln Road and Route 306 as police investigate the crash.

Officials say that the passenger in the Nissan was injured and taken to the hospital. A car seat was seen in the car, but police said no children were involved in the crash.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released.

The garbage truck belonged to Carlo Minuto Carting. Police say the truck driver was screened for drug and alcohol impairment and was found negative.

News 12 reached out to the carting company for comment and has not yet heard back.
