Flowers have been placed outside Meg’s Grill in memory of 56-year-old Ursula Keating of Toms River.
Keating was a mother and the wife of the fire chief at the Silverton Fire Company.
She was eating outside at about 11 a.m. Saturday when, police say, a 93-year-old Lavallette woman was trying to park in front of the restaurant but pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake.
The vehicle rapidly accelerated into the outdoor dining area of Meg’s Grill, killing Keating and sending seven other people to the hospital.
No charges have been announced.
The Buick also crashed into Cornerstone Wines & Liquors, damaging the building, which has been deemed unsafe at this time.
Meg’s Grill said its building was not damaged, but its “hearts are broken.” The restaurant plans on reopening on Tuesday.
