Ossining teen killed in two-vehicle crash on Route 17 in Orange County

Police a tractor-trailer and a SUV collided around 7 a.m. near Exit 120 in the Town of Wallkill.

An 18-year-old Ossining resident was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Route 17 in Orange County.

State police said the crash happened around 7 a.m. on the westbound side of Route 17 near Exit 120 in the Town of Wallkill.

Investigators said a Ford was traveling westbound when a truck attempted to merge from the right shoulder into the travel lanes.

Monday coverage

For reasons that remain under investigation, police said the truck entered the right lane and struck the rear of the Ford.

A passenger in the Ford, identified as 18-year-old Kevin Zhagui-Moroch of Ossining, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, a 28-year-old Ossining man, suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The truck driver was not injured.

State police continue to investigate the crash.
