The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down at Atlantic Beach on Thursday night.
Parts of Nassau County’s south shore is picking up the pieces and assessing the massive damage from the tornado that ripped through the area Thursday.

Inwood Chief of Department Josiyah Green said more than 15 departments responded to the club just before 7 p.m. after a possible tornado left extensive damage.
"We have some damage to the roofs of the cabanas...some of the walls were pulled apart," Green told reporters.
Green said the club is closed until further notice, but the good news is that the structural integrity of the building is intact.
The club released a statement on their website saying:
ATTENTION MEMBERS: A tornado ripped through Sun & Surf this evening, causing significant damage to numerous cabanas and buildings. Out of an abundance of caution, Silver Point and Sun & Surf will be temporarily closed until further notice. We are working with local authorities and assessing the damage to ensure both clubs are safe before reopening. Please do not enter either club until an official all-clear has been issued. We will provide updates through our website, email and social media as soon as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
