A swimming advisory is in effect for Jones Beach State Park on Friday.

Officials say there will be no ocean swimming due to elevated bacteria levels detected in recent water testing.

Although it is a rare occurrence at Jones Beach, officials say the ocean will remain closed to recreational bathing out of an abundance of caution until additional water testing confirms that the conditions are safe to reopen.

The beaches affected include the Central Mall, Field 6, Field 2 and Zach’s Bay.
