Two Glen Cove lifeguards used a creative method to rescue a baby raccoon from the waters of Morgan Memorial Park Beach on Tuesday morning.

After the two noticed the tiny swimmer struggling on the seawall, Dylan Jenkins and Taylor Enrile jumped into action.

With the help of park crew members, they used a pole and an umbrella to pull the animal to safety.

City of Glen Cove Mayor Pamela D. Panzenbeck praised those involved in a post on Facebook.

“A little trial, a little error, one happy ending,” she said. “Proof that saving the day is a team sport.”
