Driver arrested for driving high after crash with motorcyclist in Holbrook

A man has been arrested following a crash that seriously hurt a motorcyclist in Suffolk County Tuesday night.

Bertie Simeon, 37, of Huntington Station, was driving a Tesla southbound on Nicolls Road when he collided with a 2017 Suzuki motorcycle, which was also travelling southbound, according to police.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. between Greenbelt Parkway and Route 27 in Holbrook.

Suffolk police tell News 12 Simeon was high on drugs at the time of the crash and was taken into custody.

A 24-year-old motorcyclist was transported to Stony Brook University hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Simeon will be charged with DWAI/drugs when he is arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the collision to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
