Arrest made day after fatal Bronx shooting; community holds candlelight vigil

An arrest has been made in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in the Van Nest.
Police identified the victim as 50-year-old Trojan Hart, who was fatally shot on Sagamore Street.
Just 24 hours after the area was an active crime scene, community members lit candles and taped photographs, transforming the scene of violence into a place of remembrance.
Residents said they were stunned by the loss of Hart, whom many described as a familiar and well-liked member of the community.
"He was a decent guy," one neighbor said. "The last time I saw him was around 4 o'clock on his motorcycle in the rain and we talked. And I want to say, how did this happen."
Authorities announced the arrest of 47-year-old Jose Kuilan, who faces multiple charges, including murder, manslaughter, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and more.
The arrest has done little to ease the shock felt by neighbors, many of whom said violent crime is uncommon in the area.
"This is not a bad neighborhood," another resident said. "I don't understand how this happened."
Family friends of Hart said the news came as a devastating surprise. One friend, identified as Tangle, said he woke up to the sound of his mother screaming after learning what had happened.
"It was just so random," he said. "We didn't even know what happened. We just woke up and found out."
The vigil featured candles and a photograph of Hart, serving as a tribute to a life cut short and a show of support for his grieving loved ones.
