A two-alarm fire tore through a popular Five Towns pizzeria in Lawrence early Tuesday, destroying the restaurant and the vacant storefront next door.

Nassau County Fire officials said the fire started at Jerusalem Pizza at 344 Central Ave. at the intersection of Williams Street around 3:30 a.m.

The fire spread to the neighboring store, which was destroyed as well. A sign for The Sandwich Bar remains on the storefront, but neighbors and fire officials told News 12 the business was no longer operating.

It took about 150 firefighters an hour and a half to get the fire under control. No one was injured.

Lawrence fire officials said both establishments were empty at the time of the fire.

The Nassau County fire marshal's office and Nassau County police arson/bomb squad are investigating the cause of the fire.
