Suffolk police are increasing patrols in Massapequa Park after two men wearing face coverings banged on the front door of the First Avenue home belonging to convicted Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann on Tuesday night.
Police say the incident occurred at approximately 7:52 p.m. at the house, which has drawn significant public attention since Heuermann's arrest in the Gilgo Beach killings case.
Authorities said the two individuals knocked and banged on the front door. Video shows them quickly leaving the area afterwards.
No damage to the property was reported and no arrests have been made, according to police.
Additional patrols have been assigned to the neighborhood as a precaution while the incident remains under investigation.
Heuermann is being held in an upstate prison while serving three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 100 years for the murders of eight women.
