Parents of Emily Finn sue her ex-boyfriend over costs tied to Sayville teen’s death

Emily Finn's parents have filed a lawsuit against their daughter's 18-year-old ex-boyfriend, who is accused of killing her.
The lawsuit seeks compensation for the Sayville teen's funeral expenses and other costs after Austin Lynch allegedly shot and killed her in November 2024.
As previously reported, Lynch is accused of shooting Finn outside his Nesconset home before unsuccessfully attempting to take his own life.
According to the lawsuit, Lynch's actions caused Finn to endure "severe conscious pain and suffering, severe disability, severe mental shock, severe mental anguish, awareness of her predicament, fear of impending death, significant pre-impact terror, and multiple traumatic and irreparable injuries which resulted in her death."
As a result, her parents say they incurred substantial funeral and related out-of-pocket expenses.
The lawsuit also contends that they have been "forever deprived of the love" of their daughter following the fatal shooting.
The filing comes one month after Finn's parents filed a separate lawsuit against Lynch's parents alleging his parents allowed him access to a firearm despite knowing he was struggling with his mental health.
