A bicyclist was critically injured after being struck by an SUV on the City Island Bridge on Friday morning.
Police said the crash happened just after 9:15 a.m. when a 39-year-old woman driving a Honda SUV collided with a 57-year-old man riding a bicycle on the bridge.
Video from the scene showed the SUV's windshield shattered, with a shoe resting on the hood. The bicycle the man was riding on was launched to the opposite side of the street, highlighting the force of the impact.
The cyclist was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in critical condition.
The driver remained at the scene. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
