The Suffolk County Water Authority is asking customers to refrain from watering their lawns immediately - but if they must - to follow an odd and even water calendar.
It comes on the heels of a Stage 1 water alert issued on Tuesday for East End towns.
"SCWA infrastructure is reaching maximum capacity under current drought and heat conditions. You may experience low water pressure in the early morning hours, as demand is at its highest during this time," the alert email says.
The alert is part of SCWA's effort to reduce water usage amid record-high demand and drought conditions.
The SCWA says odd-numbered street addresses should water only on odd-numbered calendar days and even-numbered street addresses should water only on even-numbered calendar days.
